Wake Begins Spring Competition In Lady Gator

Gainesville, FL - The 15th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf squad completed the first round of play at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in 16th place on Friday at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville, FL. The Deacons compiled a one-round score of 318 after placing only one golfer in the top 25.
Sophomore Nuria Clau leads the Deacons after the first 18 holes, finishing tied for 21st with a one-round 75. Clau carded a team-low 37 on the back nine. Freshman Deb Means is tied for 48th place heading into tomorrow's competition. Means shot a 37 on the last nine to card a 78 for the day. Junior Camille Lee, who participated in one tournament during the fall, placed in a tie for 71st with a one-round 81. Sophomore Caroline Stetler finished the first day of the tournament with an 84, good for 84th place, while junior Veronica Prado-Lacoste carded a 90 for 90th place.
Auburn leads the field after one round, carding a team score of 292, one stroke ahead of the University of Georgia. Georgia's Reilley Rankin sits atop the field individually, shooting a two-under 70, including a 34 on the back nine.
The Deacs will tee off again Saturday morning for the second round of the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational, with the final round to be played Sunday in Gainesville, FL.
