Lynn - Charlotte, N.C. - Congrats on a great freshman year. How was it playing for Uncle Jerry and in the shadow of your Dad at Wake?
Bill Haas - Playing for Uncle Jerry was better than I thought it would be honestly. He is just like one of the guys. I don't think I have ever called him uncle. I have always called him Jerry or coach. It has worked out perfectly for me. In regards to my dad, it has been a pleasure to play here because of his name.
Michael - Nashville, Tenn. - Being a freshman, have the older players on the team given you any grief and made you do things around their apartment as a sort of freshman initiation, or have they treated you as just one of the guys?
Bill Haas - Sure they have made me do things as a freshman. I think they respect me as a golfer. But as a freshman they have made me do some things. It has been fun, I haven't done anything out of my own will.
Brad - Columbia, S.C. - How was your practice round today?
Bill Haas - Practice round was good today. Nobody played exceptionally well. But we didn't play real bad either. We all feel like we can win the tournament.
Jason - Spartanburg, S.C. - What will it take for the Deacs to win the championship this year?
Bill Haas - It will take exceptional play. I don't think we are the favorite, but in our eyes we are. We have to beat some big name teams. We have been climbing in the rankings all year. We will all have to be on top of our games.
Thomas - Taylors, S.C. - Did you always know you were going to go to Wake Forest or did you consider other schools?
Bill Haas - It was pretty much a given. The rest of the coaches thought it was a given too. It was a given and it has been a good choice too.
Laura - Simpsonville, S.C. - Now that you are almost finished with your freshman year, what advice would you give to a high school player about to play in college?
Bill Haas - That is a tough one. Honestly school is pretty important. If you are doing good in school, you will play better. You shoot better scores when you are doing well in school. It helped me in the spring to have better grades.
Chad - Asheville, N.C - What types of clubs do you use and do you have to buy them or does the school supply them?
Bill Haas - I have all Titleist. We can't be sponsored by them. Nike sponsors our clothes and the rest of the athletic department.
Jody - Durham, N.C. - What will be the toughest hole at the Duke Course this week for the field of players?
Bill Haas - I would say the last four holes are difficult. I think the tournament could be decided on 15, 16, 17, 18. Seventeen and 18 are pretty long when you have to play into the wind.
Roberto, New York City - I follow the Wake Forest program a lot because you are good and all, and am wondering what type of tournaments you played in as a kid. Also, what did you shoot when you were around 10 years old?
Bill Haas - I would say I played AJGA, played in some amateur tournaments and stuff. I don't think I kept score when I was 10. I actually started playing when I was 11. I would say 90 to the 100s when I was 10, but I really didn't keep score.
Tim -Winston-Salem, N.C. - What do you predict will be the winning individual and team scores this week?
Bill Haas - I am going to predict the individual score to be 10-under-par and the team score to be around 25-under-par. That might be pretty low, but I think we will see it this week.
