Wake Forest senior midfielder Heather Aughinbaugh was named ACC Player of the Week after playing in her last regular season home game. In that game, a 2-0 shutout of 12th-ranked North Carolina, Aughinbaugh scored an unassisted goal, giving her 10 goals and 23 points on the season. After scoring six goals in three games the previous week, including a hat trick against sixth-ranked Penn State, the Denver, Pa. native now has seven goals in her last four games.
This marks the fourth time this season that a Demon Deacon has been named Player of the Week. Aughinbaugh joins sophomore Kelly Dostal (twice) and junior goalkeeper Katie Ridd as 2002 Player of the Week honorees.
