Maren Haus Named ACC Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women??s tennis player Maren Haus was named ACC Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office. Haus, a senior from Brielle, N.J., recorded three singles victories last week - all in straight sets - to help Wake Forest capture the UNLV Invitational title. In the first round versus UC Santa Barbara, Haus played No. 2 singles, defeating 137th-ranked Cindy Ammann, 6-2, 6-4. Playing No. 4 singles versus 49th-ranked Tulsa and 53rd-ranked UNLV, Haus posted wins of 6-1, 7-5 and 7-6, 7-5.
Haus also teamed up with freshman Karin Coetzee in doubles. Playing their first collegiate match together, the duo blanked UC Santa Barbara at No. 2 doubles, 8-0. They then lost to a Tulsa tandem at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Haus is 7-4 in dual singles matches this season, playing from No. 2 to No. 4. She ranks ninth on WFU's all-time wins chart with 98. She is the second straight Deacon player to be named ACC Player of the Week this season, as Bea Bielik earned the honor last week.
Wake Forest, 10-1 this spring and ranked sixth nationally, opens ACC play this Friday, March 8 at Clemson.
