Men's Golf Falls to 10th at Carpet Capital Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - The Wake Forest men??s golf team shot an eight-over par 296 and dropped to 10th place after the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate, taking place at The Farm, a par-72 course.

After entering the day in fifth place with an even 288, the Deacs dropped five spots in the standings and are now eight-over for the tournament. Wake is 22 strokes back on team leader Florida, and is only five strokes out of fifth place. Eighteen teams are competing in the event.

As he did after the first round, Wake Forest junior Bill Haas remains in first place. He is now tied with Georgia Tech??s Troy Matteson at eight-under par for the tournament. Haas shot a two-under 70 to go with his first round 66.

The rest of the Deacon lineup did not fare as well in the second round, as everyone else shot over par. Junior Cortland Lowe is tied for 43rd with a four-over 148 (71-77). Seniors Brent Wanner and Chris Yoder are both tied for 65th with a seven-over 151. Wanner has rounds of 77-74, while Yoder has 76-75. Senior Chad Wilfong is 72nd with a eight-over 152 (75-77).

The final round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate takes place Sunday. Complete results and live scoring are available on www.golfstat.com.
