Wake Forest Quotes From ACC Operation Basketball (Oct. 26)
Skip Prosser
On the injury to Chris Ellis: "We really don't know when Chris will be out, although I've heard 8-12 weeks. Chris had a very good off-season. Eric (Williams) will have to play more minutes and must stay out of foul trouble. This pushes Kyle (Visser) to the forefront and he will be forced to play earlier than expected."
On ACC expansion: "I've only been in the league a couple of years, but I completely trust (athletic director) Ron Wellman and (president) Thomas Hearn. They think that expansion is good for Wake Forest and the ACC and I put my trust in them."
On Eric Williams: "Eric has lost some more weight and is in the low 270s. His grasp of the game is better. The biggest challenge for him will be anticipating on defense instead of reacting. He is a great kid and has really grown in his basketball I.Q."
On Chris Paul: "He is an outstanding character kid and student and he adds a lot to the University. As far as basketball goes, he has a great I.Q. He is a true point guard and a natural leader."
Vytas Danelius
On team chemistry: "Everyone really wants to play, but no one cares who gets the credit. No one on our team is selfish. Everyone is capable of playing and we have a great deal of talent. There will be competition, but that will make us better."
On the expectations: "I try not to make predictions. Just look what people predicted about us last year. I just try to take one game at a time and focus on each game individually."
Jamaal Levy
On keys to success: "Rebounding, defense, and leadership are the keys to success this year. Vytas, Taron and I are going to try to step up and be leaders. We have to believe in ourselves and stay together. We have to be consistent and improve from now through the NCAA Tournament."
Taron Downey
On leadership: "I like having a leadership role. I get to share my knowledge to the freshmen from my first two years in the league."
On keys to success: "In order to be a good team we have to be good in every facet of the game - rebounding, shooting and getting back on defense, for starters. Defense is probably the focal point for this season."
