Women's Golf In Third After First Round

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the opening round of the Franklin Street Partner's Invitational with a 10-over par 298. The Deacons are six strokes behind Florida, 292 four-over par, and trail top-ranked Duke by 18 shots. The University of North Carolina hosts the Franklin Street.
The 54-hole event is being contested at the Finley Golf Course located on the UNC campus where the par is 72 and the course measures 6,285 yards.
Senior Deb Means and junior Christine Hallstrom lead the Deacs each firing one-over par 73. Means and Hallstrom each stand in a tie for ninth. Junior Ashley Hoagland shot a four-over par 76 for the Deacons, good for a tie for 18th. Joining Hoagland is freshman Jessica Castle who shot a pair of 38s to finish with a four-over par 76. Freshman Mandy Goins rounded out the Deacons finishing with a five-over par 77 and is in a tie for 24th place.
Duke sophomore and defending medalist Liz Janangelo fired an opening round 66, six-under par, and holds a four-shot lead over Florida's Aimee Cho, Tarah McNaughton, and teammate Leigh Anne Hardin.
