Junior Kelly Dostal scored two goals on assists from Maeke Boreel, both coming off of penalty corners for the Deacs. Dostal leads the team in scoring this season, with 11 goals and two assists.
"I think we really came out and played our game plan, the plan we'd worked on all week in practice. We have played well consistently this season and we executed well again today," said Dostal.
Senior Kelly Doton tallied one goal and one assist, while Claire Laubach, Lucy Shaw, and Katie Ackerman scored a goal a piece. Goalkeeper Katie Ridd, the reigning ACC Player of the week, recorded her sixth shutout this season, and her 24th as a Deacon. Freshman Kristina Gagliardi saw nearly ten minutes of playing time in the cage, all coming at the end of the second half.
"In the first half, we had opportunities we could have capitalized on and didn't, but we still got out to an early start, giving us some momentum," Head Coach Jennifer Averill said.
The Deacs lead the Terriers 2-0 at the break, outshooting them 15-1 in the first half.
"I thought we played sloppy at times in the second half but we gained control and did what we are capable of," said Averill. "We never underestimate the ability of our opponents, the girls practiced hard and played hard for this win."
The Deacs will face the Appalachian State Mountaineers tomorrow at 4:00 pm at Kentner Stadium.
