Women's Golf Finishes Second Again At ACC Championship

Clemmons, N.C. - The 13th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team shot a one-over par 285 Sunday at the ACC Championship in Clemmons, N.C. The Deacons finished with a 41-over total of 893 (316-292-285) and finished behind top-ranked Duke. This marks the fourth straight second place showing for the Deacs. The ACC Women's Golf Championship was contested at Salem Glen Country Club.

The 54-hole event began Friday and ended Sunday. Salem Glen measures 6,348 yards and par is 71.

Senior Nuria Clau fired a one-under par 70 on Sunday to finish in a tie for second with Duke freshman Liz Janangelo at 216, three-over par. Senior Maria Beautell fired a final round 70 (one-under) as well and finished in a tie for eighth at 11-over par 224. Sophomore Ashley Hoagland tied Beautell at 11-over after shooting a third round 74, three-over par. Junior Deborah Means shot a second straight 76 for WFU, five-over par, giving her a championship total of 234 (21-over par). Sophomore Christine Hallstrom shot a final round 71, even par for the Deacons, and finished the tournament at 241, 28-over par.

North Carolina's Meaghan Francella shot a second consecutive 69 to win by one stroke over Clau and Janangelo. Florida State's Kristin Tamulis had the day's low round of 65 (six-under par) and finished in a tie for fourth with Duke's Virada Nirapathpongporn.
