Cross Country To Compete At Roy Griak Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- The Wake Forest cross country teams head to St. Paul, Minn. this weekend to compete in the 18th Annual Roy Griak Invitational. Over 200 collegiate and high school teams and over 2,000 runners will compete on Saturday, Sept. 27th in one of the seven races contested. The Invitational is held on the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn. and is annually one of the largest cross country meets in the nation. The Wake Forest men will begin at 12:00 pm CT and the sixth-ranked women are scheduled to start at 1 pm CT.

The Demon Deacons are off to a strong start this season with both the men's and women's team capturing first place at the Sept. 13th Wake Forest Alumni Invitational. The women also took first place on Aug. 29th at the Mountaineer Open and are now ranked sixth in the nation. The Demon Deacon men finished second at the Mountaineer Open, coming in just behind Florida State.

Sophomore Sean Stevens was named ACC Performer of the Week on Sept. 1st after finishing first overall at the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C. Freshman Michelle Sikes has started her career at Wake Forest in grand fashion, being named ACC Female Performer of the Week twice already. Sikes finished second overall at the Mountaineer Open, first at the Wake Forest Invitational, and was given the weekly ACC award after each race.
