Women's Golf Finish Eighth in Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, TN - The Wake Forest women's golf team shot a final round score of 306 to claim eighth place in the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Deacons finished with a total score of 900 for the three day event at the Legend's Club, which included 17 universities from around the nation.
The University of Georgia erased a five stroke deficit to take the team title with a score of 874 for the championship. Erica Blasberg of Arizona captured the individual title with a final round of 74. For the tournament, Blasberg was three-under par with a three-day total of 215.
The Deacons were led Sunday by Christine Hallstrom, who fired a two-over par 74 to tie for 26th place. The leading Wake Forest finisher for the championship was freshman Amanda Goins, who shot a final round of 75. Goins finished tied for 17th and only six-over par in 54 holes of action. Ashley Hoagland finished the tournament tied for 28th after her final round 78. Hoagland's cumulative total was 226. One stroke behind her in the final round and tournament was Deborah Means, who finished in a tie for 33rd with a 227. Jessica Castle finished 65th with an 81 in the final round, giving her a three day total of 237.
The Wake Forest women's golf team will compete again next week when they travel to Chapel Hill to play in the Franklin Street Trust Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will begin Oct. 3 and finish on Oct. 5.
