WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - For the second straight day, the Wake Forest women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory. This afternoon, the Demon Deacons blanked UNC Greensboro in women's college tennis action from the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.

Junior Karin Coetzee, ranked 15th in the first ITA rankings of the 2004 season, had little trouble with Carlin Kannan, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Coetzee went 14-3 in the fall season.

Junior Katie Martzolf defeated Lindsey Peel in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Martzolf has not dropped a single set in her two matches this spring.

Freshman Ashlee Davis, senior Aimee Smith and junior Danielle Schwartz all cruised past their Spartan opponents in straight sets. In fact, the three Deacs lost just seven games in their three matches at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles', respectively.

Senior Liz Proctor was scheduled to play No. 6 singles, but her opponent Sophie Rychlik was a default.

Coetzee and Smith got past Peel and Emily Wade at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, while Martzolf and Davis blanked the Spartans No. 2 doubles team of Kate LaCoste and Lourdes Moran, 8-0.

The Demon Deacons have not dropped a single set in their 11 singles' matches this season.

Wake Forest returns to action on Sat., Feb. 7 against Penn State. The Deacs will return the following day and play Yale. Both matches are in New Haven, Conn. and scheduled for 11:30 and 10:30 am, respectively.
