The 42nd-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team (2-3) will host #75 Old Dominion (4-0) on Wednesday at the Indoor Tennis Center in Winston-Salem. This marks the Demon Deacons' first home match after opening up with five road contests to start the 2004 season. The match between the Deacs and Monarchs was originally scheduled to take place on Feb. 8 in Norfolk, Va. but was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
The Demon Deacons are coming off two losses last weekend in Minneapolis against #31 Minnesota and #12 Virginia Commonwealth. The Golden Gophers took a 5-2 win Friday while VCU squeaked past the Deacs, 4-3 on Saturday. Old Dominion has not played a match since Feb. 6 when it blanked Richmond, 7-0. The Monarchs are 4-0 so far this season and have not allowed an opponent to register a single win. Each of ODU's victories has been a 7-0 shutout.
The Deacons have been led this season by junior Derrick Spice, sophomore Brett Ross and freshman Todd Paul who all have three singles victories. On the doubles side, Ross and Spice pair up in the No. 1 slot and have won three of their last four matches.
