Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Lady Puerto Rico

San Juan, P.R. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished sixth out of 15 teams in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Dorado Del Mar Country Club in San Juan.
The Demon Deacons maintained their position with a final round score of 295 to finish the tournament with a score of 900. The final round score was the second best score that the Deacons have posted this season. The three day total tied for the best performance of the season with the total from the Mason Rudolph Championship back in September. Duke won the tournament with a final score of 863, which is two strokes under par. Capturing the individual medalist honors was Veronica Felibert from Southern California who finished three-under par (213).
Wake Forest was led by junior Ashley Hoagland, who finished the tournament in fifth place after a final round of 70. Hoagland's fifth place finish was the highest of any Deacon golfer this year and the highest of her career. Her 54-hole total of 217 was only one stroke above par and is also an individual best.
The records do not stop there for the Demon Deacons. Christine Hallstrom carded a final round score of 72 which gave her a total of 218. Hallstrom's 54-hole total is an individual best and gave her a career high seventh place finish.
Freshman Mandy Goins fired a two-over 74 in her final round to give her a 232 stroke total. Goins placed in a tie for 42nd place in the event. Deborah Means finished the tournament one stroke behind Goins after a final round 79. Means was 17-over for the tournament and finished in a tie for 48th. Rounding out the scoring for Wake Forest was Joy Juskowich, who recorded a 15-over 87 in her final round of play. She placed 75th with a total of 258.
The Wake Forest women's golf team will be back in action Mar. 12-14 at the Lady Gamecock Classic in Columbia, S.C.
