Red Hot Deacons Host Charlotte on Tuesday...
Riding a four-game winning streak, Wake Forest gets set to host Charlotte on Tuesday at Hooks Stadium. The Demon Deacons are undefeated at home in the young 2004 season. Wake Forest owns a 25-18-1 all-time series lead against Charlotte and has won the last four meetings. The Deacons swept the 49ers last season including a 9-8 victory at home on March 4 and a 9-1 win in Charlotte on April 30.
On Tuesday, Wake Forest sends junior lefty Tim Morley to the mound to face the 49ers. Morley has faced Charlotte once in his career, a complete game victory on April 23, 2002. Then a freshman, Morley fanned seven and allowed three runs on seven hits.
At Home in the Friendly Confines of Hooks Stadium...
The Demon Deacons are 4-0 at home this season at Hooks Stadium and have been playing well in all facets of the game. The Deacons have averaged 14 runs per game, batted .350, posted a team ERA of 4.75 and committed just three errors. Wake Forest has won 46 of its last 50 non-conference games at Hooks Stadium, dating back to 2001. The only losses in that stretch came against Liberty in 2001, Georgia in 2002, Le Moyne in 2003 and Elon in 2003.

The Deacon pitching staff has been striking out opposing batters at a healthy rate of 7.3 punchouts per game. Justin Keadle leads Wake Forest with 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

Greer Joins the 700 Club...
On February 29 when the Deacons defeated High Point, Wake Forest's 17th year coach George Greer earned his 700th career coaching victory at the Division I level and tied for fourth place on the ACC coaching wins chart. Only Bill Wilhelm of Clemson (1,161), Mike Roberts of North Carolina (780) and Mike Martin of Florida State (627).
Wins in the Final At-Bat...
On Sunday against High Point, Wake Forest's captured its first win in the game's final at-bat as a throwing error on Brad Scioletti's sacrifice bunt enabled J.B. Tucker to score the game winning run in a 6-5 victory. It was Wake Forest's win in the final at-bat since the 2002 NCAA Tournament against Richmond. That season, the Deacons used some Hooks Stadium magic for four wins in the final at-bat against Florida State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
Career Notables Vs. Charlotte...
Relievers Kirby Wedekind and Daniel Davidson combined to throw five innings of scoreless baseball in two games against the 49ers last year... Brad Scioletti and Doug Riepe had homered against Charlotte.
