East Rutherford, N.J. - In an intense battle, a battle of backcourts, a duel between seniority and youth, ended Thursday night in a 84-80 St. Joe's victory. One of the best games of the 2004 NCAA tournament saw the Wake Forest Demon Deacons give the top-seeded Saint Joseph's Hawks a tightly contested regional semifinal game in East Rutherford. The Deacs closed out the game on 10-5 run, but it wasn't quite enough. More to come shortly.
The first half saw four ties and six lead changes and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons held a slim, 38-37 lead, over the top-seeded Saint Joseph's Hawks. Sophomore guard Justin Gray leads all scorers with 12 points in the first half in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Jamaal Levy added nine points and Eric Williams six, to help pace the fourth-seeded Deacs to a one-point lead at the half.
