Hamar Advances In Qualifying Rounds At ITA All-American

Tulsa, Okla. - Wake Forest junior men's tennis player Andrew Hamar advanced to the third round of the qualifying rounds at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on Tuesday.
Hamar (4-1) posted a straight set victory over Old Dominion's Eidy Igarashi, 6-4, 7-6 (3). The native of Wales needs one more win to advance to the main draw. Hamar, the 70th-ranked player nationally, will face Virginia junior Marko Miklo, the 61st-ranked player in the nation, on Wednesday. The two have never met.
Brett Ross lost his second round match, a three-set battle, to No. 122 Treat Huey of Virginia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. It was Ross' first loss of the season and his overall record stands at 5-1.
In doubles, the Deacon team of Ross and Todd Paul lost in the second round to No. 57 Sam Chang and Jonathan Sucupira of Florida State, 8-3. Ross and Paul, ranked 36th, fell to 1-3 on the year.
Paul will return to action on Thursday in the main singles draw.
