Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At Lady Tar Heel Invitational

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team shot a final round 301, 13-over par, on Sunday to place fourth at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. The Demon Deacons finished the tournament with a 32-over par 896. The 54-hole event, hosted by North Carolina, was contested at the Finley Golf Club. The par is 72 and yardage is 6,285 yards.
Top-ranked Duke captured the team title with a nine-under par final round 279. The Blue Devils shot a 54-hole total of three-under, 861. Auburn placed second with an 18-over 882. Vanderbilt finished third with a three-day total of 893, 29-over par. Wake Forest placed fourth followed by Virginia, which shot a 36-over 900.
Freshman Nannette Hill carded a two-over par 74 and finished with a three-over total of 219. Hill finished the event as the low Wake Forest individual, tied for eighth. The finish marks Hill's first collegiate top-10 finish.
Junior Mandy Goins added a three-over 75 for Wake Forest to shoot a 54-hole total 225, nine-over par. Goins recorded a tie for 20th.
Freshman Jean Chua also shot a three-over 75 in the final round. Chua finished with a 226 total, 10-over par, good for a tie for 25th.
Junior Maggie Simons fired a five-over par 77 and finished the tournament with a 12-over total, 228. Simons finished in a tie for 28th.
Sophomore Laura Crawford also shot a 77 to round out the Deacons. Crawford shot a three-day total of 20-over par, 236.
Sophomore Jordan Craig, playing as an individual, carded a four-over par 76 and was unable to count her score to the team total. Craig shot a 54-hole 239, 23-over par.
Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll shot a 10-under par 206 to run away with the individual title. Duke's Anna Grzebien finished second with a two-under 214. Vanderbilt's Chris Brady and Duke's Amanda Blumenherst tied for third at one-under par. Auburn's Maria Martinez and Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo each shot even par 216 and tied for fifth.
