Women's Tennis Falls At No.19 Tennessee

Knoxville, TN - The Wake Forest women's tennis team dropped their third match of the spring season falling to No. 19 Tennessee in a close match. The Demon Deacons were defeated 6-1 in the hard fought match at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Wake Forest (4-3) had one key singles victory in the match, yet ultimately could not hold on to get the win. Senior Karin Coetzee, ranked 16th nationally, defeated 50th ranked Sabita Maharaj 6-1, 6-4 at the number one singles position to record the Deacon's only point in the match. Danielle Schwartz, playing at the number five spot, and Jenna Loeb, competing at number six, both retired before the match ended, giving Tennessee a 6-1 win.
In doubles play, the Deacons won only one of the three matches. The win came at the number two doubles position where Coetzee and Schwartz defeated Ashley Robards and Ghizela Schutte 8-2.
The Demon Deacons return to action next weekend when they play the final two matches of their seven match road swing. Wake Forest will face Texas on March 6 at noon and then go on to play Texas A & M on March 8.
