Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 28th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team remained undefeated with a 5-2 victory at home on Sunday afternoon against Brown University at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
At 6-0, the Demon Deacons are off to their best start since 1997.
Andrew Hamar and Marius Adamski both picked up singles victories at #3 and #5, respectively. Hamar and Adamski have won all six of their singles matches this spring. In fact, Adamski, the freshman who joined the Deacons at the semester break, has dropped just one set in the first six matches of his Wake Forest career.
After dropping the doubles point, the Deacons rallied to win five of six singles matches. Senior Derrick Spice came from behind to win a three-set battle against Brown's Eric Thomas at number one singles, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Junior Brett Ross earned a straight sets victory at number four against Rich Moss, 6-3, 6-4. At number six singles, Joe Bates won a nailbiter against Mike Scherer 7-5, 5-7, 5-5 (10-7).
Wake Forest will take its first road test of the spring season next weekend. The Deacons travel to Tulsa to face the 50th-ranked Golden Hurricanes on Saturday and 30th-ranked Oklahoma State on Sunday.
