Chris Paul Named First Team All-American

Wake Forest sophomore guard Chris Paul was named first team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), becoming the 12th All-American in Demon Deacon history.

Paul was joined on the first team by Utah's Andrew Bogut, Duke's J.J. Redick, Kansas' Wayne Simien and Syracuse's Hakim Warrick.

Paul is the sixth player in Wake Forest history to earn first team All-American honors, joining Josh Howard, Tim Duncan, Rod Griffin, Len Chappell and Dickie Hemric. The NABC is the first major organization to release its All-America team.

Other former Deacons who made second or third team All-America include Randolph Childress, Rodney Rogers, Frank Johnson, Skip Brown, Charlie Davis and Jackie Murdock.

The NABC second team included three Illinois players, Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head. Arizona State's Ike Diogu and Louisville's Francisco Garcia also made the second team.

The third team included Joey Graham of Oklahoma State, Salim Stoudamire of Arizona, Rashad McCants of North Carolina, Nate Robinson of Washington and Craig Smith of Boston College.
