Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team won their second straight match in a row on Saturday defeating Old Dominion 6-1 in a hard fought match. The Demon Deacons improve their record to 7-6 overall with the convincing win.
The Deacons took the early doubles point with a solid win at the number one position, along with a default by Old Dominion at number three doubles. Ashley Davis and Katie Martzolf defeated Kerstin Endlich and Fernanda Lviz 8-3 for a strong victory to win the doubles competition. At number two doubles, Karin Coetzee and Danielle Schwartz fell 8-2 to Barbara Kerner and Barbara Costa.
Wake Forest went on to take five of the six singles matches to get the win. The clinching match was at number four singles where Marzolf knocked off Old Dominion's Kerner 6-0, 6-2. Davis defeated Endlich at number one singles 6-3, 6-2, Coetzee beat Lviz at number two singles 6-2, 6-0, and Jenna Loeb defeated Linda Garder 6-0, 6-0. Due to a shortage of players, Old Dominion was forced to take a default at number six singles as well.
