John Buck Postseason Postcard
3/9/2005 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Wednesday, March 9 - 9:55 p.m.
Our scout team came in a half and hour before practice at 9:30 to go over Florida State's plays. The guys were joking because Coach (Dino) Gaudio put in about 21 of their out-of-bounds plays. That just shows how seriously our staff takes preparation.
Coach Prosser thought we had two good days of practice and so that's encouraging coming up to Washington D.C.
During practice, both Taron and Justin played some point guard in preparation for our Friday game because we won't have Chris.
Tomorrow we will prepare for NC State so we'll be ready for whoever wins on Thursday.
We left campus at 2:00 p.m. on the bus for the Winston-Salem airport and got in around 3:00 p.m. at Dulles in Washington. It was a quick flight. We took a lengthy bus ride from the airport to the hotel.
The time went quickly because I always enjoy my back-of-the-bus conversations with Big E. People may not guess we would get along so well, but we always have fun joking around.
After unloading our bags in our rooms, a bunch of the guys watched the 2003 College Dunk Contest on ESPN and talked about it on the bus ride over to the restaurant for dinner. As always, we enjoyed a great meal at Maggiano's. It's not Chris Paul's favorite because he doesn't like cheese so all the Italian food isn't exactly his favorite. Team meals are really a time where the guys can get their minds away from basketball a little bit and enjoy being around each other.
Our customary bus driver, Wayne, from Winston made the trip up to Washington, D.C. and picked us up around 9:00 p.m. We have an hour before room check at 11 p.m. But the guys want to relax in their rooms after all the travel and also because we have an early wake-up tomorrow for practice.
