A crowd of more than 500 was on hand to honor Danelius, Downey and Levy, who helped the Demon Deacons win a regular season ACC championship in 2003 and earn the school's first ever No. 1 national ranking in 2005.
Danelius earned the Murray Greason Award, a traditional award that rewards a player for more than his work on the basketball court.
The Most Improved Player Award went to junior Chris Ellis, who rebounded from an injury-plagued sophomore season to play 12 minutes per game in 2005.
Levy earned Best Defensive Player for the second straight season. The
Junior Eric Williams, who was one of the ACC's top rebounders at 7.7 boards per game, was named Best Rebounder.
As has become head coach Skip Prosser's custom, the Most Valuable Player Award did not go to a player. Prosser named the Screamin' Demons, Wake's student-based fan club consisting of more than 60 percent of the student body, as MVP. A half-dozen members of the Screamin' Demons were on hand to collectively accept the award and receive a standing ovation from the Deacon players.
