Charlottesville, V.A. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team won their third straight match on Saturday as the 25thth ranked Demon Deacons downed Virginia 5-2. Wake Forest improved to 12-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference, while the Cavaliers fell to 5-14 overall and 1-8 in ACC contests for the season.

Wake Forest came out strong in the doubles competition to get an early lead in the match. At number one doubles, Karin Coetzee and Alex Hirsch, ranked 17th nationally, defeated Rachel DelPriore and Douglas Wink of Virginia 8-5. At the number two position, Kristen James and Lori Stern defeated Ashlee Davis and Katie Martzolf of Wake Forest 8-5. Finally, at number three doubles, Danielle Schwartz and Blakely Offutt defeated Lindsey Pereira and Caroline Hammond 9-7.

The Demon Deacons continued their streak after earning the doubles point. Coetzee got her ninth straight singles victory at the number one position with an easy win over Wink 6-3, 6-0. Hirsch got the job done for the Demon Deacons at number three singles with a solid 6-3, 6-3 victory over Rachel DelPriore, while Martzolf was victorious in the fourth spot defeating Marta Bechliwanis 6-2, 6-3. Wake Forest capped off the victory at number six singles where Jenna Loeb knocked off Virginia's Dora Bechliwanis 6-4, 6-4.

The Demon Deacons return to action on Sunday, when they travel to Maryland to play the Terps at 11:00am.
