Wake Forest received a national letter of intent from 6-2 guard Shamaine Dukes to play basketball for the Demon Deacons, head coach Skip Prosser confirmed today.

Dukes played for Randolph-Clay High School in Cuthbert, Ga., where his team won 61 consecutive games and two straight Georgia state championships. Dukes averaged 24.0 points, 8.4 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game as a senior.

"We are excited about Shamaine," Prosser said. "He comes from a winning program. He is a proven winner. He can shoot the ball well and he can handle both guard positions. We're excited to have him part of the Deacon family."

The Albany Herald's co-player of the year, Dukes played on the high school level for coach Joe Williams. He chose the Demon Deacons over Auburn, Arkansas and several other schools.

Dukes comes from the same high school that produced former Deacon great Jerry Braswell.

Dukes becomes the fourth high school senior to sign with Wake Forest, joining Harvey Hale, Kevin Swinton and David Weaver.
