Hanahan, S.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished in a tie for 10th place on Monday in the Cougar Classic. The Deacons fired a final round score of 303 to finish with a three-round total of 906 (42-over par).

Tennessee claimed the team title with a six-over par 870. Georgia finished just two shots behind with an eight-over par 872. Vanderbilt (882, +18), Auburn (884, +20) and Virginia (886, +22) rounded out the top-five. NC State (894, +30) came in sixth followed by LSU (899, +35), North Carolina (899, +37) and Furman (901, +37).

Wake Forest tied for tenth with host school College of Charleston.

Sophomore Laura Crawford shot a one-over par 73 to finish with a 10-over par total of 226 to pace the Deacons. Junior Mandy Goins struggled on Monday with a nine-over 81 and also finished with a 10-over 226 total. The two placed in a tie for 35th.

Freshman Nannette Hill fired a team-low even par 72 in the final round. She finished the tournament with a 12-over par 228.

Junior Maggie Simons shot a 14-over par 230, capped off by a seven-over par 79 in the final round.

Sophomore Jordan Craig also shot a final round 79 and finished with a three-round total of 235 (19-over par).

Tennessee's Marci Turner claimed the individual title as she fired a five-under par 67 in the final round. She finished with a four-under par total of 212. Georgia's Whitney Wade shot a one-under total of 215 to place second. Georgia's Mallory Hetzel and Taylor Leon along with Virginia's Leah Wigger finished in a tie for third at one-over par.

The 54-hole event was scheduled to begin on Monday, but tournament officials chose to move the start up due to the threat of Hurricane Ophelia. The tournament is being held at Yeamans Hall, par-72, 6,084 yards.
