No 1 Field Hockey Hosts Appalachian State

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The No. 1 ranked Wake Forest field hockey team will look to extend its 57-game non-conference winning streak as the Demon Deacons host Appalachian State, Thursday night at Kentner Stadium. Game time against the Mountaineers is set for 7 p.m.
Wake Forest enters the game coming off a thrilling 3-2 triple overtime victory over No. 2 Maryland. Closing regulation with the scored knotted at 2 all, the teams played through a pair of 15 minute overtime periods without changing the score. Extending the game into strokes, junior goalkeeper Kristina Gagliardi saved three of Maryland's five strokes, helping lead the Deacs to victory. Earning her 11th straight win, Gagliardi received ACC Player of the Week honors.
Against Appalachian State, Wake Forest will welcome back Lauren Crandall, Michelle Kasold and Jamie Whitten, who have spend the last two weeks playing at the Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile. While representing the United States, the trio helped lead the team to a best-ever finish.
In the series with the Mountaineers, the Demon Deacons lead, 26-16-1 and are currently on a 16 game winning streak. Appalachian State enters the game with a 2-8 overall record and a 0-3 NorPack mark.
