After losing eight letterwinners from last season's squad, the Wake Forest baseball team welcomes 12 newcomers this season. In the coming weeks, WakeForestSports.com will feature each Demon Deacon newcomer leading up to the team's Feb. 11 opener against Charlotte. The first Deacon in the spotlight is pitcher Joel Ernst.

If you were to play another sport at Wake Forest, what would it be?
Probably racquetball because I was nationally ranked before I came here and I'm pretty good at it.
Best thing about the team:
I think the baseball team is a bunch of good guys that have a good sense of humor but know when to get serious and play.

When I pitched a one hitter and beat the other pitcher who no hit our team.

As a pitcher, I think that wood bats are easier to pitch against, but aluminum scores more runs.
