WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Christina Dewitt scored a career-high 22 points to help No. 3 North Carolina beat Wake Forest 91-57 on Friday night.
Camille Little added 17 points for the Tar Heels (19-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who are off to the best start in school history while tuning up to face No. 2 Duke (20-0, 7-0).
The winner of Sunday's game in Durham, N.C., between the nation's only two undefeated teams will likely take over the No. 1 spot in the rankings when The Associated Press poll comes out Monday.
North Carolina, which has beaten opponents by more than 31 points a game this season, took a 51-27 lead at the half behind 57.1 percent shooting, including 7-for-12 from 3-point range.
The Tar Heels stretched their lead in the second half despite going deep into their bench, leading 77-40 on a pair of free throws by LaToya Pringle with 8:33 left.
Liz Strunk scored 14 points and Deirdre Naughton added 12 for the Demon Deacons (10-8, 2-4), who committed 29 turnovers and shot 39.1 percent from the field. The Tar Heels also outrebounded Wake Forest 42-28.
Wake Forest guard Cotelia Bond-Young, the ACC's second-leading scorer at 17.9 points per game, finished with six points. She was held scoreless in the first half, and didn't hit her first field goal until there was 8:17 remaining.
