WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -
2005 Wake Forest graduate Ashley Hoagland earned her exempt tour card on the LPGA tour recently and is among several Deacon alums who enjoyed success on the golf course this fall.
Playing in the LPGA's Qualifying Tournament at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., Hoagland carded rounds of 70-69-71-75-74 to finish at one-under-par 359. The finish gives her exempt status at all 2007 LPGA events. The Palmetto, Fla., native won the Hunters Oak Futures Classic earlier in the season.
Christine Hallstrom, another 2005 graduate, received exempt tour status on the 2007 Ladies European Tour (LET) by virtue of her first-place finish on the Swedish Telia Tour. Hallstrom won the Telia Tour ranking with 1,756 points.
1997 graduate Laura Diaz enjoyed a prosperous 2006 season on the LPGA tour, finishing 36th on the tour's money list including a tie for ninth at the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship. Marta Prieto, a 2001 Wake Forest grad, finished 31st on the 2006 LET money list.
Additionally, Deacon alum Alexandra Armas will continue to serve as the executive director of the LET for the 2007 season.
