Men's Tennis Sails Past Furman, 7-0

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 15th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team easily won its outdoor home opener at Leighton Tennis Stadium on Monday afternoon, capturing a 7-0 win against 68th-ranked Furman.
The Deacons (7-2) successfully shuffled their lineup in both singles and doubles. Mariusz Adamski and Cory Parr, one of Wake Forest's most effective duos during the fall, played number two doubles. They rolled past Furman's team, 8-2. At number three, Brett Ross and Charles Sartor squeaked by the Paladins, 8-7 (7). The Deacons' top team of Andrew Hamar and Todd Paul won 8-5, as Wake Forest swept the doubles matches.
In singles, Paul got the day off, allowing Hamar to play number one singles for the first time in his career. Hamar answered the bell, defeating Ben Pauluhn, 6-1, 6-1.
At number two, Adamski defeated Andy Juc in the closest match of the day, 7-6 (5), 6-1. Cory Parr, Brett Ross, Liron Strauss and Joe Bates all recorded easy matches at numbers three through six, respectively.
Wake Forest's homestand continues on Tuesday against 31st-ranked South Carolina on Tuesday. First serve is at 3:00 p.m. at Leighton Tennis Stadium.
