Norfolk, Va. - The 13th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team completed a successful weekend road trip with a 6-1 win against 66th-ranked Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. The Deacons improved their season record to 5-0.
Once again, Wake Forest won the doubles point. The Deacons have accomplished that feat in each of the team's five matches this spring. At number one doubles, Andrew Hamar and Todd Paul blew past the Monarchs, winning 8-2. Joe Bates and Cory Parr won at number three, 8-5, to get the doubles point for the Deacons.
In singles, the Deacons won five of the six matches. Paul, Hamar, Mariusz Adamski, Liron Strauss and Charles Sartor each posted victories in singles. Hamar's victory at number two singles against #90 Eidy Igarashi, 6-1, 7-6 (5), sealed the team victory for Wake Forest.
In 30 singles matches this spring, Wake Forest is a combined 26-4. Adamski has a perfect 5-0 record.
The Deacons return to Virginia next weekend. The Deacons travel to #34 VCU on Friday and play #36 Minnesota in Richmond on Saturday.
