Track and Field Finishes Weekend at Armory Collegiate Invitational

On Friday, senior Mike Loyd placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles running a time of 7.98 in the qualifying round. In the 60 meter dash preliminaries, Kerry Major ran a qualifying time of 6.91.
In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Michael Bingham ran a qualifying time of 47.95. That time was good for 11th place. Eric Seely and Brent LaRue also competed in the event placing in 26th and 27th respectively. Seely turned in a time of 48.94, and LaRue ran a time of 48.98.
Melissa Council ran a personal best 9.03 in the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore placed 35th in the preliminaries with her time.
Lindsay Neuberger set another NCAA regional qualifying mark with a distance of 15.54 meters in the shot put. That distance was good for fifth overall in the event.
On Saturday, Sean Stevens placed second overall in the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:21.82. He finished just 32 hundredths of a second behind the winner.
Caitlin Chrisman in her first race back from injury placed 14th with a time of 17:05.94 in the 5000 meter race.
In the men's 200 meter dash, Seely placed 16th with a time of 21.89. Willie Idlette, Loyd and Major each competed in the event as well placing in 24th, 32nd and 35th respectively.
Michelle Sikes placed fifth in the women's 3000 meter run running a personal best 9:33.69 in the event. Chris Catton set a new indoor personal record in the 800 meter run.
Nicole Schappert, Hanna Bremler and Merry Placer all ran personal bests in the women's mile run. Schappert placed sixth in the event with a time of 4:49.87. Bremler completed the event with a time of 4:55.85, good for 12th, and Placer ran a time of 5:04.71.
The men's 4x400 meter team of Bingham, Aaron Russell, LaRue and Seely shaved two seconds off the school record running a time of 3:13.04. The mark was good for first place in the event.
