Wake Forest To Host 2006 NCAA Field Hockey Championship

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 2006 NCAA Field Hockey Championship will return to Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University for the second time in three years on November. 17-19, as announced by the NCAA.
Wake Forest last hosted in 2004 when the Demon Deacons won their third consecutive National Championship. Prior to that, the university hosted the tournament in 1996.
"Wake Forest is honored to once again host the NCAA Championships," head field hockey coach Jennifer Averill said. "I believe our staff at Wake Forest puts on a first class presentation that all four teams will enjoy."
Over the past few years, the operations department at Wake Forest has played host to the NCAA Men's Soccer ACC Tournament (1999, 2000), and the second round of the NCAA (2002, 2003, 2004); the 1st/2nd rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (2000); the NCAA East Regional Baseball Tournament (2002); the NCAA Women's Golf Eastern Regional (2003); and the ACC Cross Country Tournament (2003). Previously in field hockey, Wake Forest hosted the Championship weekend (1996, 2004), the 1st/2nd rounds of the NCAA Tournament (2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004), and the ACC Tournament in 1999 and 2004.
