Wake Forest Streaks To First Place At The Hootie

AWANDAW, SC - Three Wake Forest players are ranked in the top five as the Demon Deacons are in first place after the first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate here Sunday.
The Deacons, who are at full strength for the first time in a month, were led today by senior Doug Manchester, who is tied for first place overall after tying a career-low with a 4-under par 67.
Junior Webb Simpson, who played last week in the PGA Tour's Bay Hill Classic, is alone in third place after firing a 3-under 68 today. Deacon senior Kyle Reifers is tied for fourth place after shooting a 2-under par 69.
Only 12 of the 75 players in the tournament were under par in the first round. Three were Demon Deacons.
Deacon sophomore Chris McCartin is tied for 11th place after shooting an even par 71 today. Junior Sean Moore is tied for 59th place after a 6-over 77 today.
Teams will play 18 holes Monday and Tuesday.
