Deacons In Ninth Place After ACC Championship First Round

NEW LONDON, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Kyle Reifers and sophomore Chris McCartin scrapped their way to solid rounds of even par, but the Demon Deacons are in ninth place after the first round of the ACC Championship at the Old North State Golf Club here Friday.
The Deacons have two days and 36 holes remaining to get back in contention for the 19th ACC title in school history.
Eleven teams are competing for the ACC crown.
Georgia Tech's Michael Barbosa shot a blistering 7-under 65 to take the lead in the race for individual honors.
Wake's Reifers and McCartin are tied for 21st place at even par. Both players had three birdies and three bogies on the day. Deacon senior Doug Manchester and sophomore Webb Simpson are tied for 35th place after shooting 2-over 74. Junior Sean Moore shot a 5-over 77.
