Survival was the name of the game today for the Deacs.
I woke up around 7:45 and strolled over to grab some breakfast. I didn't tee off until 1:10 so...I had some time on my hands. After a few delicious pieces of bacon I was ready to start my day. I came back and showered and relaxed for a bit. We then loaded up the hot rod and headed to the course.
It was fairly calm and no rain this morning, but when we showed up it started raining. I got stretched out again and hit a few putts on the putting arc and was ready to go. We teed off the back nine and it was playing tough. It was drizzling and breezy.
Our team got off to a slow start and made the turn at six over par. On about our fifth hole a hurricane came through with 30+ mile per hour winds and rain. It was nuts!! I have never seen anything like it. We headed to the nearest shelter for a few minutes then when it slowed to a normal rain we headed back to the course. It was truly survival.
Our team made the turn and played great on the back nine. I think we were five under as a team on the back nine! I birdied my 10, 12, and 17 holes to go from one over to two under. I was pleased with the way I had finished and extremely pleased with the way the team finished. It looked like we were in the middle of the pack at the turn but after the back nine we are in a tie for second and only three back of the leaders (Washington).
All we can ask for is stay within striking distance coming down the stretch. After Dougie (Manchester) made a nice two putt on the last green we headed for the van. I did a few more interviews and we were off to Outback.
We sat at the bar and watched the end of the Mavs game. It's going to be a good last couple of games in the NBA playoff's. Webb (Simpson) cracked us up with his old man impersonation and boom, it was time for bed. They moved up the tee times a half an hour so...we start at 7 a.m. Should be an exciting day!! Have a good day.
Prediction- Edoardo Molinari will not make the cut at The Memorial
