Sartor Leads Deacons At Cincinnati Invitational

Mason, Ohio - Junior Charles Sartor won three of his four singles matches to lead the Wake Forest men's tennis team at the rain-abbreviated Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational over the weekend at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
The Deacons posted a combined record of 9-6 in singles and 2-4 in doubles. Over the weekend, four of Wake Forest's six losses in singles came in super tiebreakers. Individually, Sartor went 3-1, while junior Mariusz Adamski posted a 2-1 record and freshman Andrew Brasseaux went 2-2. Senior Andrew Hamar, ranked 76th nationally, recorded a 2-2 mark, including a victory against 57th-ranked Dan Hanegby of Brown.
Wake Forest went a perfect 4-0 in singles on Friday racking up victories against opponents from Brown, Illinois, Xavier and Wisconsin. The tide turned on Saturday, though, as the Deacons dropped five of seven matches, including four super tiebreakers. Wake Forest bounced back on Sunday winning three straight set victories in four tries.
In doubles action, the teams of Brasseaux/Hamar and Adamski/Sartor both went 1-2. All of Saturday's doubles matches were canceled due to rain.
The Demon Deacons return to action next Monday at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla.
