Jerry Haas Selected To Coach USA Team vs. Japan

NORMAN, Okla. - Wake Forest head coach Jerry Haas has been chosen to lead the United States in the 2007 Fuji Xerox U.S.A vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship July 11-13, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today.
Chris McCartin, a junior on the Wake Forest team, will be a part of the USA roster.
The 12-member American team includes eight of the nation's top men's collegiate golfers and four of the top women's college golfers. The 32nd annual competition will be held this year at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
Melissa Luellen, the head women's coach at Arizona State, joins Haas as the USA coaches.
The USA roster consists of McCartin, Bronson Burgoon of Texas A&M, UCLA's Kevin Chappell, Jacqui Concolina of Vanderbilt, Rochester's Stephen Goodridge, Rob Grube of Stanford, Duke's Jennie Lee, Chris Oklahoma City's Daniel Mitchell, Jennifer Osborn of Arizona State, Sonoma State's Jarin Todd, Alison Walshe of Arizona and Kansas' Gary Woodland.
Team USA leads the all-time series, 24-7, and has won 11-straight competitions.
Haas is a former Wake Forest All-American who is in his 10th year as head coach at his alma mater. He has re-built the Deacon program into one of the nation's best. Last year's team finished third in the NCAA Championship.
McCartin, a three-year starter for the Deacons, has been one of the ACC's most consistent performers during his career. He is coming off a seventh-place finish at the recent ACC Championship.
