Deacon Sprinters Have Great Day at Duke Invitational

The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams were in Durham, N.C., on Friday competing on the first day of action from the annual Duke Invitational. The Deacs carded victories in three events to highlight the day.
Wake had three of the top eight finishers in the developmental division of the 100-meter dash. Senior Eric Seely easily won the race in a time of 10.82 while junior Oderah Nwaeze placed third (11.33) and sophomore Taylor Wildman finished seventh (11.53).
The Deacs also had the top two finishers in the developmental 200-meter dash. Competing in his first meet of the season, junior Kevin Marion beat out teammate Michael Bingham to take first place. Marion ran a time of 21.41 while Bingham ran 21.46.
Freshman Tyler Dodds also took first place in the developmental 400-meter dash in a time of 49.22.
Other top finishers for the Deacs included junior Molly Kennedy in the developmental 200-meter dash (5th, 26.02) and senior Matthew Owen in the 3,000-meter run (8th, 8:27.46).
