GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2007 All-ACC Academic Men's and Women's Track & Field teams, announced Friday by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Three Wake Forest track athletes earned spots on the teams.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Wake Forest senior Michelle Sikes, freshman Thomas Sensing and sophomore Phillip Warsaw were among the list of honorees. Sikes and Warsaw are mathematical economics majors. Sensing has not declared a major.

Sikes capped a brilliant senior season by winning the national championship in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The ACC Track MVP, Sikes clocked a 15:16.76, setting a new NCAA meet record, breaking Stanford's Lauren Fleshman's time of 15:24.06 by more than 15 seconds. The Lakewood, Ohio native became the first Wake Forest female to win a national title in track, including both indoor and outdoor and is the first Demon Deacon to claim a title in the sport since Andy Bloom won the discus throw and shot put in 1996.
