ATLANTA, Ga. - In the finals of the 400-meter dash at the 2008 ACC Outdoor Championships, sophomore Jon Reid qualified for the NCAA Regionals with a time of 47.18, taking sixth place in the event to become Wake's seventh athlete to meet regional standards.

Freshman Allan Lunkenheimer ran a season best 47.95 in the 400m trials, finishing just one place shy of qualifying for the event finals.

Patrick Russell had the second highest team finish this season in the 1500m, clocking 3:53.21. Matt Owen's 3:52.72 mark at the Stanford Invitational still leads the WFU pack for the year.

On Saturday, Marcus Dillon became Wake's first Steeplechase competitor this season, running the event in 9:26.58, placing 12th overall.

Phillip Warsaw topped his season best in the 400m hurdles, set last weekend at the Spec Towns Invitational, with a 52.27.

Thomas Sensing set a new personal record in the shot put, hitting a 53-07.75 mark to take seventh place.

Nicole Castronuova ran a season and personal best in the 200m finals with a 24.18 finish, topping her former best of 24.20. The Jackson, N.J. native also had her best race of the season in the 400m, posting a 56.63 mark.

Freshman Anna Nosenko placed eighth in the 1500m run with a 4:29.05 finish, falling just behind her best mark of 4:28.77 set at the Wake Forest Open. Merry Placer ran a season best in the same event with a time of 4:38.14.

Caroline Vaughn hit regional marks for the second time this season in the 100m hurdles, running a 13.83.

Michelle Loyd made regional standards in the 400m hurdles for the third time in 2008 outdoor season, hitting a season best time of 58.71. Loyd first hit the mark at the Wake Forest Open with a 59.38 finish.

Senior Molly Kennedy blew by her earlier triple jump mark of 36-10.25, set at the Western Carolina Invitational, with a 40-00.50 mark that was good for sixth place in the event.

Next weekend, select members of the squad will head to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
