
Wake Forest Wraps Up Virginia Tech Challenge

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Sophomore Aaron Payne leapt a personal-best 6-04.25 in high jump to take fifth overall as the Wake Forest men's and women's track & field team wrapped up action at the Virginia Tech Challenge.
Payne bettered his previous personal-best of 6-03.05 by clearing the bar at 6-04.25 on his first attempt.
In the men's 400-mete r dash, senior Phillip Warsaw and Lee Johnson each ran a personal-best on Saturday. Warsaw crossed the line in a time of 49.64 to finish 16th overall while Johnson clocked in at 51.52.
After notching a personal-best in the weight throw last night, freshman Sarah Brobeck recorded a personal-best in shot put with a toss of 40-00.50. She bettered her previous personal-best of 38-02.75, which she set last week at the N.Y. Armory Duals. Brobeck went on to win her heat and finish eighth overall in the event.
A large part of the Wake Forest team took this weekend off to prepare for next week's ACC Championships which will be right back at Rector Fieldhouse on the campus of Virginia Tech. The action will get underway on Thursday with the majority of the finals wrapping up on Saturday. All of the action from Blacksburg can be seen on ACC Select.
