WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team is gearing up for spring exhibition play. The Demon Deacons are headed to the triangle area this weekend to face Old Dominion, Michigan and James Madison at the North Carolina and Duke campuses.
Sophomore Emily Cummings, who was sidelined for most of the 2008 season with a stress fracture, is healthy and will play with the Deacs during spring action.
In addition to the team's practices, several members of the Wake Forest squad have been involved with Futures sessions. Cummings, along with Liz Fries, Lauren Greenwald, Dara Downs, Kaitlin Piosa, Julia Young and the Wake Forest coaching staff have been working with the top 13-18 year-olds in the region.
The Deacons finished the 2008 season at the NCAA Finals with a 22-4 record.
