WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team finished out the weekend with a 1-0 victory over American in Washington, D.C. on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Lauren Greenwald scored the only goal of the game.
Wake Forest improves to 7-2 and American is now 4-4.
Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Ruhf logged four saves during the contest, helping the Deacons keep their one-goal edge. American out-shot the Deacons 8-6 overall, including a 6-1 shot advantage in the first half.
Next weekend Wake Forest will return to Winston-Salem to host No. 2 North Carolina on October 3, followed by Appalachian State on October 4. Game times for both matches are set at 1 p.m.
