
Demon Deacons Wrap-up Day Two Of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Brent LaRue finished third in the men's 400m hurdles to lead the Wake Forest track & field contingent on day two of the Penn Relays.
LaRue got the day started bright and early with strong finish in the men's 400m hurdles. He finished third overall out of 43 competitors with a time of 50.93.
The Kernersville, NC, native then joined fellow seniors Tyler Dodds, Jon Reid and freshman Sean Lunkenheimer in the prelims of the 4x400m relay. The team finished with a time of 3:11.10 but was 12th in the field and only the top-8 advanced to Saturday's final.
The women's 4x1,500m relay team of Anna Nosenko, Caitlin Crawford, Erin Redden and Casey Fowler finished ninth with a solid time of 18:21.01. Nosenko opened the race with a good leg of 4:21.50 while Crawford came around in 4:37.90 and Redden clocked in a 4:37.80. Fowler closed out the race with an anchor leg of 4:43.80.
Senior Nicole Castronuova and freshman Maddy Ricco competed in both the 4x200m relay and the sprint medley relay on Friday. In the sprint medley, the duo joined senior Alex Gove and sophomore Molly Binder to finish eighth with a season-best time of 3:58.53. Then in the prelims of the 4x200, Caroline Vaughn and Gwen Ricco filled out the squad that turned in a time of 1:39.75, which was just over a second off the school record. However, the time was not good enough to advance to the finals.
The final Demon Deacon teams to compete this weekend will be the 4x800m relay teams. The women's event is set to begin at 1:55 pm and the men's event will start at 4:20 pm.
