Q: What tournament are you most looking forward to playing this year?
A: Obviously nationals. That's the goal each year. We want to go out there and play well. That's what we focus on all year. Another one that the team is looking forward to is ACC's. We haven't won that in a long time, and I don't think coach (Haas) has ever won it. I would like to win an ACC title in one of the next two years so why not this year.

Q: What is the biggest thing you learned in your first two years with the program?
A: Time management and compartmentalizing. When you're in the classroom, you're in the classroom. When you're on the course, you're on the course. You have to focus on whatever it is you're doing at that particular moment. But you also have to know that if you have a busy week in the classroom, you're not going to be able to play every day. You have to maybe hit balls for 30 minutes or an hour and then go study. And it's okay to do that. You can't spend all of your time in one specific area.

Q: What is it like playing for coach Jerry Haas?
A: It's a lot of fun. Coach is one of those college kids that never left. He just loves to do what he does. He's like a member of the team. He hangs out with us on trips, but he also knows when to kick us in the backside and get us going. It's been really good and I'm really happy with the choice I made to come play for him.

Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: Last year I was honorable mention All-America and All-ACC and I would obviously like to at least reach those levels again. I would like to make All-ACC again, and I want to get to at least second or third team All-America. Then I just want to keep improving on that as a senior.

Q: Who is one of your favorite professors and why?
A: John Duchac was my professor for Financial Accounting 111. He is a really smart guy, and we kind of clicked the whole semester. I went in one day to talk to him about an exam and we ended up talking for more than a half an hour about our families and our backgrounds. He was really interested in me and liked golf. He is a really smart guy and taught me a lot.

Q: What are your thoughts on the new golf complex?
A: It's incredible. It's really nice to have something like that there that we can use constantly and not have to worry about permission from members to go play. It's just us. There's always a place to hit and you can go there whenever you want to. I think it will really improve everyone's game.

Q: What is the favorite course that you've played?
A: I just recently played Merion Country Club (Ardmore, Pa.) and that was incredible. I didn't play it in a tournament and the greens weren't rolling at 14 or anything but they were smooth and quick. The whole layout of the course was really good for me. You have to be able to shape shots. It's not overly long but it's a really good test.

Q: If you could change one rule in the game of golf what would it be?
A: I don't think you should ever have to hit out of a divot. I think that should be ground under repair and you should get a free drop.
