Deacons Keep Rolling at ITA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee won twice to reach the semifinals of the doubles draw, and three Deacons advanced to the Round of 16 in singles, as the Wake Forest men's tennis team put on another strong showing at the ITA Carolina Regional Saturday.
Kreyman and Lee, the seventh seeds in the doubles draw, notched two impressive wins over ACC opponents, topping ninth-seeds William Parker and Oystein Steiro 8-5 in the Round of 16 before edging David Holland and Jason Tahir of Duke 9-7 in the quarterfinals. The Deacs will face a tough test in top-seeded and 15th-ranked Henrique Cunha and Chris Mengel from Duke in the semifinals tomorrow morning.
Wake also found success in singles, with Kreyman, Lee and David Hopkins all winning to secure their spots in the final 16. Kreyman, seeded ninth, edged UNC's Steiro 7-6 (4), 6-4. He will take on eight-seeded Dominic Hodgson of Duke tomorrow.
Lee earned a win over an ACC foe, defeating NC State's Matt Thomson 6-3, 6-3. The Kiwi will be up against South Carolina's Ivan Machado in tomorrow's Round of 16.
Hopkins rounded out the Demon Deacon victories today, downing Elon's Jonas Vliegen 6-3, 6-3. He will face Duke's Torsten Wietoska tomorrow morning.
The ITA Carolina Regional is the fall championship for teams from the states of North and South Carolina. The singles and doubles champions earn automatic bids to the ITA National Indoor Championship next month.
