No. 3 Demon Deacons Look to Close Out Regular Season Title on West Coast

Wake Forest will take on No. 25 Stanford Friday night at 8:30 p.m. (ET) before a Sunday tilt against Cal at 4 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With a second-consecutive ACC regular season title within reach, the No. 3-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team is set for a pair of matches out west this weekend against No. 25 Stanford and Cal.
The match against the Cardinal will take place on Friday with first serve slated for 8:30 p.m. (ET) at the Arrillaga Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons own a 5-1 record in the series dating back to the first meeting in 2017, including two victories last season. Of note, this will be the first true road match for Wake Forest against Stanford.
After the first-ever meeting between the two schools a year ago, the Deacs will take on the Golden Bears on Sunday at 4 p.m. (ET) at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
ACC Standings Update
Following Wake Forest's big win over Virginia two weeks ago, the Deacs are the last remaining unbeaten team in ACC play and sit alone atop the regular season standings. The Demon Deacons could clinch at least a share of the regular season title as early as Friday with a win over Stanford and a Virginia loss.

Additionally, Wake Forest has won 25-consecutive ACC regular season matches following a flawless run last year and has taken a total of 126 conference victories since the start of the 2013 campaign, good for second during that span.

With three matches remaining, the Demon Deacons hold a combined 88-17 record in singles and a 53-9 mark in doubles, including 12 sweeps in its last 14 matches (eight of 10 in ACC play). Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme leads the team with an incredible 18-2 singles record, followed by Luca Pow at 16-3.
Freshmen Standouts
Wake Forest freshmen have accounted for 34 wins this season, led by three-time ACC Freshman of the Week Mees Rottgering (11-2) and recent breakthrough star Dominick Mosejczuk, who remains a perfect 11-0 in singles play.
Demon Deacon Depth
The Deacs have put together one of the deepest lineups in the sport and have proven it week after week. Wake Forest has a 53-6 combined singles record on courts four, five and six. Additionally, the team has dropped one of those three courts just three times since the start of ACC play.
Chasing History
DK Suresh and Luca Pow have played a major role in Wake Forest's success over the last three years and have been climbing up the program record books. Suresh is tied for fifth all-time in career doubles wins (92) and Pow is four wins behind him and tied for eighth.

Wrapping up a highly dominant rivalry weekend, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team swept Duke, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Outdoor Tennis Stadium.
With three matches left in the regular season, the Demon Deacons (25-2, 10-0 ACC) are edging closer to their second-consecutive ACC regular season title. Wake Forest holds the tiebreaker over the second-place Cavaliers and will close the season at home against NC State.
Wake Forest ended a three-match losing streak against Duke and has now won nine of the last 12 as it returned its dominance over the Blue Devils. Overall against Big Four opposition, head coach Tony Bresky is 34-20 (.629) for his career, including an above-.500 mark in road environments (12-9).
With the sweep, Wake Forest holds a combined 88-17 record in singles and a 53-9 mark in doubles, including 12 sweeps in its last 14 matches (eight of 10 in ACC play).
The Deacs took the opening point for the 24th time this season and for the 15th consecutive match, including all 10 in ACC play, with wins on courts two and three.
Junior Luca Pow paired up with freshman Aryan Shah for the third time this season and remained perfect as they defeated Long/Visser on court three in dominant 6-1 fashion. This marked Pow's 89th career doubles victory for the Deacs, which puts him three away from being tied for fifth in program history.
On the second doubles court, sophomore Kacper Szymkowiak and freshman Mees Rottgering once again clinched the opening point with a 7-5 come-from-behind win against Williams/Truwit to remain perfect (7-0) as a pair.
After taking the first set on five of the six singles courts against the Blue Devils, the Demon Deacons closed out the match with wins on courts three, four and five.
Extending his team lead to 18 singles wins with just two losses, sophomore Joaquin Guilleme was the first player off the court for the second-straight match after a stellar 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dylan Long on court four.
The Deacs took a 3-0 lead before the first set on court six was finished, as Shah followed up his strong doubles performance with a phenomenal 6-1, 6-2 win against Saahith Jayaraman on court five. The freshman is now 6-2 at the collegiate level and has yet to lose a match in ACC play.
Closing in on the top 10 in program history with 94 career singles wins, Pow improved to 16-3 this season with the match clinching victory (6-3, 6-2) over Gerard Planelles Ripoll on court three. He has now contributed to 183 combined singles and doubles wins over the last three years, the most out of any active Wake Forest player.
The Bresky Era
Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a highly-decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2025, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2016 and 2025.
Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 40 All-ACC selections and 12 ITA Singles All-Americans.
During his tenure at Wake Forest, Bresky has amassed 395 wins. Of note, early in 2023 with a victory over No. 6 Tennessee, Bresky became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing the legendary Jim Leighton. Most recently against Texas, he reached the 400-career win mark including his 26 victories at Cornell.
